The exhibition showcases cyanotype prints and graphite drawings on paper by Mohit Mahato and drawings made of graphite, pastel, oil stick and natural dyes on paper and fabric and an immersive sound installation by Tasneem Lohani. The works surround the idea of rest under techno-capitalism while reflecting on the restful nature of plants. Exploring the effects of capitalist hustle culture on our views of productivity and the effect it has on our mental and physical health. They speak of two tired bodies who found comfort in plants, in the hopes that fellow tired bodies will take a moment to sit with them and rediscover what it means to rest truly.
The show opens on 3rd August 2023, 6.30 pm followed by a Listening Session at 7.30 pm of the sound piece, Rest Now, Sleep Later by Tasneem Lohani. The show is on view from the 4th till the 13th of August 2023, 11.00 am – 7.00 pm. A second Listening Session will be on 5th August 2023 at 7.30 pm.
