A group of environmentalists and wildlife conservationists under the collective Coexistence Consortium launched ‘Coexistence: The Great Elephant Migration’, a month-long exhibition in Bengaluru focusing on man-animal conflict.
As part of the exhibition, around 100 Lantana elephants – life-size models of elephants made out of Lantana camara, an invasive weed that restricts the growth of indigenous vegetation – will be displayed across the city in a bid to spread awareness about its effects on Karnataka’s forest ecosystem. Sixty of the elephants are in Lalbagh Botanical Garden. The event programming includes over 50 talks, nature walks, photo exhibitions, and more.
