The ‘One and Three Ideas*’ symposium seeks to bring together an inspiring group of artist-educators whose work resides at the dynamic crossroads of experimental pedagogy, community engagement, and the reimagining of access to resources and tools within arts education. Through this gathering, we aim to explore practices that bridge the gap between conventional learning paradigms and innovative approaches, thereby addressing infrastructural, social, and ecological gaps that hinder access to education for specific communities and groups.
As part of our commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration within the artistic and educational communities, this symposium has been curated in conjunction with the ‘Very Small Feelings’ exhibition, co-curated by Akansha Rastogi and Diana Campbell. The title ‘One and Three Ideas’ draws inspiration from Terry Smith’s seminal essay ‘One and Three Ideas: Conceptualism Before, During, and After Conceptual Art’ (2011), a reflection on Joseph Kosuth’s work ‘One and Three Chairs’ (1965).
